π± PCN Home Of Rare Milkweed Plant Species π¦
A rare plant species, the Zizotes Milkweed, is growing at Putnam City North! The Outdoor Classroom at PCN is a vibrant place for all types of plants, insects, and now the rare milkweed. A Conservation Biologist from the OKC Zoo came out and surveyed the plants this week and found about 20 more milkweed plants growing. There are 29 recordings of this rare milkweed in Oklahoma, 5 in Oklahoma County, and 2 of those are at PCN! We can't wait for all the monarch butterflies to find the milkweed plants next!

#OnTheRoadWithRhodes πVisiting Our Schools One Stop at a Time with Dr. Rhodes at the Wheel π
Superintendent Dr. Rhodes ventures every week to visit our schools, see the action, talk to students and teachers, and participate in fun activities that he finds along the way. Today, we road along on his trip to visit the Lake Park Lions, Western Oaks Elementary and Middle School Warriors, Central Cubs, and the PC Aviation Academy. Kids will truly say the best things, including one today asking Dr. Rhodes, "Are you the President?" π€

π Bridging the Past and the Future, One Step at a Time π
Seniors from across the District took a stroll down memory lane at their former elementary schools today for their "Senior Walk" as current elementary students and their former teachers cheered them on. There was no shortage of hugs, laughs, high fives, and even embarrassing photos shared by all. It seems like just yesterday these "little learners" were walking these halls, and now they are walking across the stage as the "big kids."

π Blooms, Butterflies, and Buddies π¦
Students at elementary schools across the District have been studying the transformative process of their beautiful caterpillars turned butterflies, while high school Environmental Science and Botany students have been hard at work transforming and growing the PCN Outdoor Classroom.
π» Today, the two converged to showcase the symbiotic relationship between the pollinators and the flowers as our Dennis Dolphins traveled to Putnam City North to release their beloved butterflies into Mother Nature. Many elementary students said, "Bye-bye, butterfly" to their insect buddies as they spread their wings and flew to the beautiful flowers.
